Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and The Aujan Group Launch Scholarship Programme
Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Aujan Group Holding have partnered to establish the Aujan – Anantara Scholarship Programme. This initiative aims to grant access to college education to young individuals from the local Zenguelemo, Pangaia, and Sitone communities upon completing their secondary education.
The programme was launched by offering scholarship opportunities to 10 students from Zenguelemo Secondary School. These students were selected based on their academic performance and have been placed at Instituto Industrial e-Commercial “Eduardo Mondlane” de Inhambane, in Inhambane City. The scholarship programme will be a career launchpad for the local youth, which will see them studying a comprehensive hospitality course for a three-year-long period, with lessons covering theoretical hospitality foundation and English language classes.
This scholarship initiative reflects the resort’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the local youth. In recent years, the resort has constructed three primary schools and one secondary school in the villages of Zenguelemo and Pangaia. Recognising education as a fundamental pillar for young populations, these efforts aim to provide alternative avenues for income generation beyond the traditional practices on Bazaruto Island.
Lourenco Zivane, Community Supervisor for Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, stated, “Since the establishment of the resort at Bazaruto Island, Sheikh Adel Aujan, insisted on education for local children and the development of the island community.
