Protea Hotels by Marriott is thrilled to announce two significant appointments that will further enhance the group’s commitment to excellence in the hospitality industry.

Margaret Asian appointed as General Manager of Protea Hotel by Marriott Ikeja Select, Nigeria

Margaret Asian joins the group as the new General Manager of the Protea Hotel by Marriott Ikeja Select in Nigeria. Mrs. Asian boasts an MBA and a decade of experience in the hospitality industry. Her journey with Protea Hotels by Marriott began in 2012, where she progressively held roles in Human Resources, Revenue Collection, Sales, and Marketing. She has been recognized for her outstanding work ethic, financial acumen, and integrity, earning accolades including the prestigious Pioneer Best Manager of the Year 2021 for Protea Hotel by Marriott Select.

Currently serving as the Assistant General Manager of Protea Hotel by Marriott Ikeja, Margaret has been instrumental in delivering exceptional guest and customer satisfaction while driving premium and exclusive hospitality experiences. She has consistently ensured that our facilities exceed expectations through service improvement initiatives and effective onboarding processes. Margaret Asian resides in Lagos with her spouse and family.

Joe Siegers appointed as General Manager of Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Durban Umhlanga Ridge

The global hotel group is pleased to welcome Mr. Joe Segers as the new General Manager of the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Durban Umhlanga Ridge, effective August 2023. In his new role, Mr. Segers will provide leadership and oversee the operations of this 205-room gem located in Umhlanga, Durban.

With an impressive career history, Joe Segers brings a wealth of experience to his position. Notably, he has previously served in various key roles within the Protea Hotels by Marriott® and Autograph Collection Hotels brands from 1995 until 2017, including the prestigious position of being the opening General Manager for the first Protea Hotel Fire and Ice! by Marriott® in Cape Town.

Segers left the group in 2017 to run his own boutique hotel in the Natal Midlands.

After a brief departure from the group to run his boutique hotel in the Natal Midlands in 2017, Mr. Segers has returned to Durban, where he will be lead the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott® Durban Umhlanga Ridge team.

These appointments mark an exciting chapter in the Protea Hotels by Marriott portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to providing exceptional hospitality experiences and solidifying its presence in South Africa and Nigeria.
