Date for 2024 KafueWild Trail Run Announced
Trail runners should mark Saturday 21 September on their calendars as the day to be at the starting line of the KafueWild race in Kafue National Park. A joint effort between the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, African Parks, Kafue National Park and the Wildlife Ranger Challenge, the race has 10km and 21km routes open to the public, and a gruelling 21km option for rangers who each run with a 22kg / 49lb backpack to prove their extraordinary fitness through challenging terrain.
The 2023 winners to beat are…
10km Men – Isaac Waya (Zambia) 45 minutes
10km Women – Janine Schutte (Netherlands) 57 minutes
21km Men – Gift Sacheka (Zambia) in 1 hour 23 minutes
21km Women – Philis Makina (Zambia) in 1 hour 36 minutes
Winner of the Ranger Challenge – Musekese Team in 2 hours 46 minutes
Looks like our homegrown Zambian heroes are the ones to beat in 2024!

Places to stay in Kafue
Ideally for race day you want to stay as close to the start as possible so you don’t have to drive through the dark or get up unnecessarily early. Extend your stay before or after at one of the top lodges or camps found in our list of Kafue accommodation.
September is safari high season. This is a popular time of year with visitors so please book early if you want to add a pre- or post-race safari.
