The IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management (IIEHSM) has eight courses from which to choose a career path in the hospitality industry and a virtual passport to the world.
Studying at a hospitality school provides a comprehensive skillset in customer service, communication, leadership and adaptability, making graduates well-suited for a diverse range of careers within the hospitality and service industries, while also developing transferable soft skills valuable in many other sectors.
One of the courses available at IIEHSM – the IIE Higher Certificate in Travel – empowers students to pursue their passions globally, providing them with the skills and mindset needed to curate extraordinary travel experiences and navigate the complexities of the travel industry at any level.
It is offered as a full-time one year course at the IIEHSM campuses in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The programme offers a gateway to a myriad of opportunities by cultivating confidence, professionalism and a strong foundation in travel industry expertise.
The IIE Higher Certificate in Travel covers the essential aspects of the travel industry and consists of the following modules:
- Digital and academic literacies
- Travel products and services
- Travel destinations in Southern Africa
- Customer care and sales in travel
- Travel operations and planning
- Domestic fares and ticketing
- Global distribution systems
- Work integrated learning
Students get hands-on practical experience through the school’s Work Integrated Learning module, which allows for immersion in the daily operations of travel companies and graduates can explore various roles, including travel consultant, airline check-in agent, car hire reservation consultant, cruise company reservation consultant and coach company reservation consultant
The IIE Higher Certificate in Travel is perfect for those fascinated by the intricacies of travel and tourism and who enjoy crafting travel itineraries and sharing destination insights.
Intakes are available in February and July, for a comprehensive one-year, on-campus learning experience.
