Vehicle industry swings into action for Little Eden at SAVRALA Charity Golf Day
The Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) extended a lifeline to one of South Africa’s most vulnerable populations through its annual Charity Golf Day on 21 August. Held at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Course, the event successfully raised critical funds for Little Eden Society, an organisation dedicated to providing round-the-clock care for individuals with profound intellectual disabilities.
With an annual operational budget of R55 million, Little Eden Society relies heavily on events like this to maintain its life-changing services for 300 children and adults across two facilities. The charity faces constant financial pressure to provide essential care to those often classified as “uneducable.”
“This Charity Golf Day was more than just a round of golf,” said Sandile Ntseoane, General Manager of SAVRALA. “It was an opportunity for our community to unite and make a meaningful impact on Little Eden Society, a cause we hold dear. This marks our second year of supporting Little Eden through this charity event.” He extended his gratitude to the event’s generous sponsors, especially those contributing for the first time, for making the day possible.
Ntseoane extended a special thank you to Bluu Car Rental CEO Paulette McGhee, Europcar CEO Martin Lydall and Hertz Car Rental CEO Julian Visagie, who initiated an internal CEO challenge, contributing R10,000 each towards Little Eden Society.
“Despite the country’s tough economic climate, this year’s golf day raised around R60,000 for the charity,” he says. “We thank all participants for their kindness, generosity and continued support as this will contribute to Little Eden’s life-changing mission.”
Nichollette Zulu, Business Development Manager at Little Eden, underscored the event’s significance: “Such events are critical to raising much-needed funds and spreading the word about our special organisation.”
The funds raised will directly support Little Eden’s programmes, providing specialised care that many residents would struggle to receive elsewhere. Nadine Mason, Development Officer at Little Eden Society, highlighted the broader impact: “This partnership empowers Little Eden to extend its reach, fostering greater community engagement and encouraging individuals, families, and companies to contribute to something larger than themselves.”

This, in turn, enhances the support available to our residents,” explained Mason. “SAVRALA and its members have become a part of the Little Eden family. Through this connection, you are investing in the lifelong quality care of each of our residents. Thank you for driving Little Eden forward.”
