Researchers can Travel to Ghana as a Destination for Scientific Meetings

A team of Researchers, Administrators and advisory Board Members from the Sena Institute of Technology on Monday, 20th March 2023, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Mr John Yao Agbeko, in Accra.

The purpose of the meeting was to seek collaboration with the Ministry for the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology (FASEB) Conference scheduled for 27th August – 1st September 2023 in Accra.

A leader of the delegation, Dr Akwasi Agbleke, said the goal of the collaboration with the MOTAC was to promote Ghana as a destination for scientific meetings and workshops as well as support the beyond-the-return agenda by providing tourism to researchers visiting the country.

He added that the conference would attract high-profile geneticists both within and outside the continent, representatives from the African Union and African Academy of Sciences.

He noted that FASEB comprised twenty-seven Scientific member Societies representing more than 115,000 researchers around the world.

On his part, Mr John Yao Agbeko, Chief Director, welcomed the team and thanked them for the decision to collaborate.

He added to give participants a delightful experience in Ghana, there was the need to constitute a working committee comprising staff of the ministry and representatives from the Institute, and Officials from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

Other Directors of the ministry and selected staff of the Sena Institute of Technology attended the meeting.
