MEA School Directors Alliance South Africa Officially Launched
The MEA School Directors Alliance South Africa (SDA SA) has been officially launched with a strong vision and mission to revolutionize talent development and workplace placement within South Africa’s educational system
The Alliance’s vision is to create a future-proof educational system that aligns with industry needs and the aspirations of the upcoming generation. SDA SA aims to provide clarity and support for careers and entrepreneurial endeavours in a rapidly evolving industry landscape, and have committed to driving innovation, sustainability, and excellence through relevant research, fostering partnerships, and influencing positive change within the hospitality sector.
The School Directors Alliance marks a significant milestone for the South African tourism and hospitality higher education sector, bringing together leaders from 15 institutions such as Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), University of Johannesburg (UJ), Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), University of South Africa (UNISA), Walter Sisulu University (WSU), University of Mpumalanga (UMP), University of Pretoria (UP), University of Venda (UNIVEN), Durban University of Technology (DUT), University of Zululand (UNIZULU), Central University of Technology (CUT), North-West University (NWU), NHL Stenden South Africa, The Swiss Hotel School (SHS) and the International Hotel School (IHS). In order to achieve its goals, the SDA SA envisions collaborative work with key stakeholders like the National Department of Tourism (NDT), Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) , various industry partners.
The official launch of the School Directors Alliance took place at the recent MEA Future Leaders Challenge South Africa hosted at the Hilton, Sandton 8-9 May 2024 under the leadership of Hubert Ummels (founder of Game changers and Future Leaders Challenge) with Mandisa Silo (FLC Country manager, South Africa)This historic event signifies a new era of collaboration and innovation among South African tourism and hospitality offering universities, paving the way for a more cohesive and impactful industry network.
