Cape Town’s Reputation was Recognized by Readers’ Choice Awards
The annual Readers’ Choice Awards commemorate their 35th year and are widely regarded as highly prestigious in the travel industry. Travellers are drawn to a diverse range of destinations because they provide exciting experiences and treasures regardless of what they may be.
The contestants in the Readers’ Choice Awards were evaluated according to applicable criteria that were transformed from a five-point scale to percentages. With more than 240,000 ratings from readers who voted for the destinations they thought belonged among the world’s top cities, the results have brought excitement to many.
Cape Town was ranked among the top ten best cities by Condé Nast Traveller when the rankings for the best cities were made public on October 4th, 2022. Cape Town was listed as the 9th best city in the world according to readers of Conde Nast Traveller, with a score of 88.27.
The beaches, sights, and activities in and around the water were championed in the magazine. In addition to the ocean life, prestigious hotels and Table Mountain were also recognized according to the magazine’s citation.
The City of Cape Town provided a statement supporting the recognition given to Cape Town. In the statement, James Vos, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, said, “‘This is the result of hard work by the city and its partners to connect with more key source markets and clever campaigns such as Find Your Freedom from Cape Town Tourism (CTT), our official Destination Marketing Organisation,’ said Alderman James Vos, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.”
Additionally, a statement from the city noted that “between November and December, we are expecting 184 international flights per week. This will increase to 191 flights per week between January and March next year. This amounts to approximately 1,56 million two-way seats between November 2022 and March 2023, generating a whopping R7,9 billion in tourism spend.”
In addition to the following programmes aimed at igniting growth, Wesgro assisted in ramping up tourism for the city with the launch of its US tourism campaigns in August 2022.
